Summer updates 2026

Slowly, slowly, another summer is coming to an end, but ours hasn’t even really started yet. The last few months have been crazy busy regarding work and we have not managed to get away at all. So we now urgently need a break. Not only us two, but definitely also the children, who have been in kindergarten practically all summer. This week we are in “our” Piran at the Slovenian coast on a mini break, enjoying the sea atmosphere while planning our upcoming autumn adventure. So excited about that! But first, here’s a quick recap of our summer days at home.

We swam in Jasna lake. The water is cold and there were crowds of people but but nevermind. Mini adventure park at the Špik campsite was our go to place when the kids had too much energy. Excellent pizzas and drinks over there too! Planica playground because it’s great and just around the corner from our village. In restaurant Ponca we enjoyed the views and delicious breakfasts. Jumped into the pool, baked bread, chased after the chickens and picked fresh, home-grown vegetables at our garden. Played volleyball like 3 times a week. Went cycling a few times too. Hiked to Tamar a hundred times. Okay, maybe not literally a hundred times, but it was really often. Almost every Monday we had a date without the kids. In the morning, of course, when they were in kindergarten. But that’s already something. Lukas was with us for a month too and I don’t know who was the saddest, when he was leaving for Germany.

Most of the days were super hot and we felt so lucky not to live in a city! We made homemade kombucha and jams, baked bread, cooked, preserved and froze vegetables for the winter. We ate good. And we ate a lot. Had so many catch-ups with friends. Those at home and those who came for a visit. Thanks again to everyone who drove over here despite the traffic jams on the highways.

And now, as the calendar summer slowly says goodbye and the main tourist season ends, we are also getting more and more relaxed. And we are already quietly counting down to our well-deserved vacation. If you haven’t read where we are going this time, click HERE. I will report with an autumn update from this very destination. Because when we return, it will already be quite a winter atmosphere.
