The second month was a true opposite of the first one. Well, almost. We drove much lesser and rested much more. But not exactly on our free will. Plans fall apart sometimes, we are forced to change or postpone them for various reasons. We´ve had some medical issues the past weeks. Nothing to be worried about, but serious enough to prevent us from going on a trip right now. It wil take a while before we get better and are fit enough to drive. Here is more about that.
NORWAY | wild camping road trip from south to north
Norway. Nature at its best. When everything glitters in sunlight, but also when everything is wrapped up in mystic fog. A paradise for everyone who loves mountains, rivers and lakes, forests, the sea, fishing, wild camping, peace and quiet. All those different landscapes and an amazing spectrum of green – blue shades of deep waters and hills has not disappointed us. Despite the larger numbers of tourists during the summer months.
LOFOTEN ISLANDS, Norway | wild camping road trip
Lofoten, Norway. Usually, I prefer to go somewhere south. But the cold north always ends up surprising me in a good way. I´ve travelled around Scandinavia as a teenager with a tent, but this time we visited Lofoten islands with our LR Defender, which we transformed into a camper. It´s nice up north. Peaceful and calm. And It takes your breath away may times. In one week spent there, we didn´t want to just tick off all the famous places. We went offroad lots of times. And it was always worth it. Here is a long blog post about Lofoten – for me it is a wonderful memoir, for you hopefully inspiration.
1st month on the road | between forests, mountains, fjords and lakes of northern Europe
Woohoo, first month on the road is just behind us. First month without a job, without driving everyday to work and back for hours. Instead, we drove through a large portion of Scandinavian and Baltic countries, where we are still on the way as we speak. We are from being lazy, but I have to say, waking up without an alarm clock feels very good.
DENMARK | 4 days camping road trip from south to north
Denmark in just 4 days, is that even worth it? We say it is. And especially in the summer months when the days are long and you have a lot of daylight. Many people pass through here on their way to Scandinavia, but not many stop for more than one night – we are happy we had enough time to see a bit more of the country. Even more so after our longer weekend in Copenhagen last December – we really loved the city and wanted to see what the rest of the country is like.
Scandinavia & Baltic road trip 2019
One, two, three, let´s go! Adios Germany. Well, at least for a while. A year, two, forever? Who knows. Some of you might have read I´ve quit my job, after a long consideration. Yesterday it was my last day at the office and yes, it felt a bit strange but so good at the same time.
So now what? First, we´ll do some travelling. Yay! Up and down around Europe. Enjyoing the free day today and starting our adventure tomorrow, we are off to Scandinavia!
Once we return to Germany, we will drive back home to SLOVENIA WITH LU, finally home after 6 months yay! It is always good to be back and I really can´t wait that I will not have to count the holidays days this time. We will squeeze in a proper beach holiday in CROATIA as well. Quickly back to Germany for Lu to start his new school year and then back south, all the way to GREECE, through the BALKAN COUNTRIES. Would love to take Lu with us on the whole trip, but the German school system is very strict and it is almost impossible to get even one single day off during the school. But more about the Balkan part of the trip some other time. So, where exactly, how and why are we going up north in the first place?
MAHE ISLAND, Seychelles | things to see and do on Mahe in just 1 day
We only had one full day to spend on Mahe as we wanted to spend the most of our time between La Digue and Praslin. Since we only had about 8 days in total, I think we made a good choice and even in just one day we got the taste of the island.
PRASLIN ISLAND, Seychelles | 4 days of tropical beaches, hopping neighbouring islands and national parks
Praslin, the second island we visited during our Seychelles trip, was much different to La Digue, but nonetheless gorgeous. Here, we found more dreamy beaches, a national park with its famous Coco de Mer palm trees and had more delicious food before we flew off to Mahe.
LA DIGUE ISLAND, Seychelles | 4 days beach holidays on one of the best laid back tiny islands in the world
La Digue, this tiny paradise island in the Indian ocean, is not to be missed going to while visiting the Seychelles. It was our FAVOURITE ISLAND of the three we visited, mostly because of its RELAXED ATMOSPHERE, dreamy sandy BEACHES, no big hotels and the possibility of exploring it either ON FOOT or with a BICYCLE.
EXTERNSTEINE, Germany | day trip to Horn-Bad Meinberg and Lippe
These amazing 40 meters high rock formations, halfway between Dortmund and Hanover, close to the smaller cities Bielefeld and Paderborn, are really worth visiting if you are driving in the area. The sight is quite well known amongst the Germans, but it seems like the international tourists have not yet really discovered it. We stopped here on our way back home form the Netherlands in April.
