Imagine a place so close to the sea you can HEAR THE WAVES hit the reef edge at night, a place only a few steps away from a DREAMY SANDY BEACH which you visit every morning with a coffee in one hand and a book in the other one. Imagine a place surrounded by lush tplants and wonderful FLOWERS. A place where it´s easy to forget which date it is. A place where your kids have enough space to run around and PLAY. And now imagine a beautiful fully equipped and tastefully decorated VILLA with a wonderful spacious porch. And it has two bathrooms! And it´s located on one of the world´s best little paradise islands, AITUTAKI. We know this place. We´ve just been there last month :). Want to see how it looks?
As some of you were already asking me where we stayed at on Aitutaki I decided to dedicate a post to these wonderful villas we spent most of our Cook islands holiday days at.
On our travels we usually stay in different types and ranges of accommodation. We like to mix midrange with very basic, but sometimes we also choose more luxurious ones. Regardless to the price we pay, the key factor at choosing the right hotel is mostly its location. So, therefore lets start with that first ;).
LOCATION
Conveniently situated BETWEEN THE AIRPORT AND THE MAIN TOWN, we found the location to be perfect! You will need a car / motorbike or a bicycle to get around, but that´s the case at any other accommodation on the island too.

Besides that AMAZING BEACH so-to-say at our doorstep and the nice garden, we also loved the vicinity of the hiking trail to the ISLANDS´S HIGHEST PEAK, Maunga Pu. The easy hike started basically just across the street and it´s a great thing for those who like to start their days actively.
VILLAS
Allright. Now imagine one more thing – you have been travelling the whole day and were up since 4am, you feel tired and your feet are a bit sticky. All you want is to finally reach your end destination, take a shower and drink something cold. That´s exactly how we felt. And then we walked into this beautiful place we called home for 8 days! There could not have been a better ending of this long day ;).

There are 2 VILLAS actually, both extremely SPACIOUS and nicely designed & decorated with ART and WOODWORK made by local artists. There is a FULLY EQUIPPED KITCHEN with appliances, dining table, coffee table, a nice comfortable sofa, a TV, ceiling fans and did I mention the two bathrooms ;). If you can´t sleep because of the heat, no worries – there is an AC also.

It´s hard to choose a favourite corner of the villa, but it might just be this outstanding TERRACE! There is also an OUTSIDE SHOWER to get the sand off your feet before you enter the villa.

THE BEACH
We could see the beach from our terrace and it was a really short walk just across this lawn. Could not be more convenient. And the beach itself was just the right one for our relaxing holiday – the peace and quite (meaning: no people!), beautiful white sand and shallow warm sea were hard to beat.

There is lots of SHADE at the beach too, so you don´t have to worry about getting your skin burnt. Just be careful of the falling coconuts and place your towels / chairs under the smaller palm trees in the first beach row and you´ll be okay.

There are a couple of KAYAKS you can use – and you should! The calm sea waters in the lagoon are perfect for that. Don´t forget to bring your snorkelling gear as well ;).

THE GARDEN
Last but not least, the garden. Sometimes a hotel´s garden is just some meaningless little green area nobody really notices, but sometimes, like in this case, it´s almost the centre of attractiveness! Me being a landscape architect, have of course noticed how wonderful it was the minute we arrived.

Oh yes, I almost forgot – THE SUNSETS! They are wonderful. Especially because the beach is completely empty and you can truly enjoy the sun-setting colours in the sky in peace and quite.

We ENJOYED OUR STAY AT THE VILLA so much and got our batteries properly charged for what ever is coming up in 2017! We do not write hotel reviews otherwise and this is in fact probably not really a review also but more a presentation of this wonderful place! If some of you are headed that way and are in search for the perfect place to stay, this might be it! We really could not think of something we did not like or something we missed during our stay.
And who knows, maybe we´ll find ourselves WATCHING THOSE STUNNING SUNSETS ON THAT EXACT BEACH SOMEDAY AGAIN :).
